Linear velocity

Linear velocity is a physical quantity that indicates the speed of an object in circular motion, i.e., the length of the path traveled by the body per unit of time.

The linear velocity of a body moving along a trajectory of uniform circular motion:

$$v = \omega R$$

where,

v — linear velocity (m/s);
\(\omega\)— angular velocity (rad/s);
R— radius of the circle (m).

The linear velocity through the length of the path (trajectory) traveled per unit of time:

$$v = \frac{d}{t}$$

where,

v — linear velocity (m/s);
d — arc length, distance traveled (m);
t — time (s).
